LEGAZPI CITY, May 9, 2017 – Ako Bikol Partylist Rep. Rodel B. Batocabe has filed a resolution directing the Committee on Banks and Financial Intermediaries to investigate the system glitch to BPI (Bank of the Philippine Islands).

The glitch quickly spread in social networking sites on Wednesday, prompting bank clients to immediately check their accounts at nearby BPI branches and ATM machines. Some reported not being able to access their BPI accounts on mobile, while others said there were unauthorized transactions that deducted money from their accounts. But the BPI said in an advisory that the discrepancies reported in its clients' bank account balances was due to an "internal system error."

In an interview over DZGB’s Tingog kan Banwaan hosted by Pio Fernandez, Batocabe said that the objective of House Resolution 1072  is for the committee to focus on the entire internal system of banking industry. (Mar de la Cruz)
