DOST TARGET 6,000 S&T SCHOLARS NATIONWIDE NEXT SCHOOL YEAR



LEGAZPI CITY (Sept. 26) – The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) S&T Scholarship will not be affected by the Free College Education Act of 2017. This was disclosed by DOST Sec. Fortunato T. de la Peña in an exclusive interview by DZGB News Monday, Sept. 25.

De la Peña said that the free tuition plus allowances will continue as indicated in the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of the new college education law. He added that the competitive exams will be held on October 15, 2017 all over the country. The agency received 50,000 applications for the scholarship and intend to award 6,000 slots for new freshmen. After the graduation DOST scholars will work in  the country equivalent to the number of years they enjoyed the scholarship.
