CITY (October 5) - The League of
Municipalities –Albay Chapter expressed
its strong condemnation of the recent acts of violence at the Police Detachment in Barangay Bascaran, Philippine Army Patrol
Base in Alobo, including the Bicol International Airport, all in Daraga, Albay
wherein eleven (11) construction vehicles were torched by alleged NPA rebels
operating in Albay and nearby provinces.
In
a meeting conducted Wednesday, October 4, at Casa Lorenzo here, 13 out of 18
Albay Mayors who where present signed Resolution No. 1 series of 2017
stated that “irrespective of who were responsible , one thing
remains certain – and that is,
these acts have serious repercussions to the economy and the tourism industry , as well as to the
security, society and over-all general
welfare of the inhabitants of the Bicol Region
and the Philippines at large”.
In an interview of DZGB News with Mayor Noel E. Rosal, he emphasized that these attacks had
resulted in a great loss to the
economy and has further pushed
backward the operation of the
Bicol International Airport (BIA). He further appealed to the authorities and
the public to intensify existing measures against violent extremism in order to avoid a similar incident in the future. (Mar de la
