PROCESSED PUFFER FISH CONFISCATED BY OAS PNP





OAS, ALBAY (October 10)  - The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Regional Office 5 commended Oas Municipal Police Station and the Municipal Health Office here for the prompt confiscation of thirty five (35) kilos of processed Puffer Fish (Family Tetraodontidae) for violation of FAO 249 o Ban on the Sale and Distribution of Raw/Fresh and Processed Puffer Fish series of 2014.

In his report, Acting Oas MPS  Chief of Police PCI Domingo Tapel, Jr. said that he coordinated to the local government after receiving reports from the public that processed puffer fish (badi na tikong)  is being sold in the public market of the said municipality.

An operation was conducted at 8:30 AM, Tuesday in response  to the alarm caused by the reported death of two kids in Presentacion , Camarines Sur after eating fresh puffer fish (tikong) the other week.  (Mar de la Cruz)
