STO. DOMINGO EVACUEES DISPLAY UNIQUE PRACTICE ANEW

STO. DOMINGO, ALBAY (Jan 17) – Evacuees from the 8 kilometers Extended Danger Zone (EDZ) evacuated to safer grounds preferred to make shanties (rancho) or temporary evacuation center for privacy than to be congested in a classroom.

This has been the practice of evacuees from Barangays Lidong, Fidel Surtida, Sta. Misericordia, San Fernando and San Isidro now living temporarily at the designated LGU evacuation sites here.

Mayor Herbie B. Aguas in an interview with DZGB News said that the evacuees opted to stay in the shanties to have privacy and be free from communicable diseases that may occur due to congestion.

Aguas also added that the declaration of the province of Albay under the state of calamity is of great help for LGUs to address the needs of the evacuees. As of this writing, MDRRMO recorded 200 families or 820 individuals evacuated from Barangays Fidel Surtida, San Fernando, Sta. Misericordia, Lidong and San Isidro.  (Mar de la Cruz)
