DSWD’s SIMULTANEOUS PAYOUT OF P2,400 TO BICOLANO INDIGENT SENIOR CITIZENS AFFECTED BY TRAIN LAW JUMP-START TODAY

Legazpi City (July 14) – Payout of P2,400 under the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) under its Unconditional Cash Transfer (UCT) Program kick-start Saturday simultaneously in Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and Catanduanes.

UCT is a cash subsidy under the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) law to lessen the negative economic effects by the said law to poor Filipinos covering the year 2018-2020.

In his statement, DSWD Bicol Regional Dir. Arnel B. Garcia said that UCT cash grant cannot cover all the household expenses but only an augmentation to the poorest of the poor affected by  inflation.  For this year, Garcia said, "each beneficiary will receive a total of P2,400 which is equivalent to P200 per month and for the succeeding years, a beneficiary will receive P300 monthly or P3,600 annually".

UCT will be given to beneficiaries of Social Pension and Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) and Listahanan identified poor households. With the ongoing payout, Social Pension Program beneficiaries are advised to present their Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) Identification Cards and Cerfication issued by DSWD Regional Office.

DSWD Bicol said that more than 195,000 indigent senior citizens in the region is expected to benefit from the said subsidy. (Mar de la Cruz)
