One died, 7 others seriously wounded in a road crash

LEGAZPI CITY, Feb 24 – One (1) person died and seven (7) others were seriously injured in a road crash that happened Sunday, at around 6PM according to the Camalig Police Station.

Police investigator, P/EMSGT Alfredo Revale said that a passenger jeep from Guinobatan, Albay carrying about 15 passengers was rammed by a speeding Raymond Bus from the opposite direction as it tried to over take a sedan car swerved and fell on the ground after hitting the passenger jeepney.

Pronounced dead on arrival (DOA) at Bicol Regional Training and TeachingHospital (BRTTH) was Lea Paliangayan – a high school teacher at the Marcial O.Raᾔola Memorial School (MORMS) in Guinobatan, Albay.

Confined at the BRTTH were sisters Almaira and Angeline Luces of Sitio Sogong, Libod, Camalig; Marvin Moira  of Ligban, Camalig; Alfredo Olianaga of Sitio Bascaran, Libod, Camalig  and Michael Angelo Ribaya of Oas, Albay (all passengers of passenger jeep); and the couple Alfredo and Thelma Tupas, of Nasugbo, Batangas.

Police said that the driver of Raymond Bus, Rodoldo Decano, Jr. of Peᾔafrancia, Gumaca, Quezon is now under police custody and waiting to be charged. Meanwhile the jeepney driver identified as Jose Nual is at BRTTH. (NMmdl with reports from Jimmy Nasalita and Renz Luna)
