LEGAZPI CITY June 8 - A firefight ensued while the police were serving the warrant of arrest against Gilbert Concepcion, who is tagged as the number 1 most wanted person in Bicol and a notorious gang leader, and five (5) other persons namely: Wilfredo R,. Sasota, Ramson Concepcion, Cesar Amarillo, John Doe and Jane Doe, all of Brgy. Molosbolos, Libon, Albay.

In an early report this morning, Joint elements of RMFB5 led by P/LTCOL JULIUS D. GUADAMOR,AFC, ,RMFB 5, NBI operatives led by RD Pat Morales, Army ISU AIR, SAF, Libon MPS and Albay PMFC were about to serve warrant of arrest at 4:00 a.m. Monday at  Barangay Molos-bolos where the said suspects were spotted was fired upon by the above suspects forcing the government troops to retaliate resulting to the death of one, alias Dodoy. Gilbert Concepcion and others were able to escape but was believed to be wounded as evidenced by the trail of blood on the escape route.

Also wounded was a member of SWAT RFMB 5 P/SSG Jay Balbastre and immediately rushed to the nearest hospital. Recovered from the battle ground are Cal .40 pistol, Armalite Rifle and assorted magazines and ammunitions.

Albay Police Provincial Office Director  P/COL PRIMITIVO C. BAYONGAN said in an interview with DZGB News that a hot pursuit operation is still underway. He added that full military and police operations was launched against the group of Concepcion.

It may be recalled that Concepcion is a former rebel who surrendered to the government.  He was also implicated in several crimes to include among others the killing of Makati City Engr. Nelson Morales. (NM Mar de la with reports from Jimmy Nasalita and Pio Fernandez)
